VAPT – Need of the Hour

Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) is a methodology for security testing in organizations, meant to keep the organization safe from security threats including cyber-attacks.

Currently, when organizations worldwide are grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, there are multiple instances of cyber-attacks being reported across industries.

Vulnerability Assessment (VA) is used for identifying vulnerabilities, but on its own, it cannot differentiate between exploitable and non-exploitable vulnerabilities. So, to ensure extended protection, Penetration Testing (PT) is done to identify the exploitable vulnerabilities and exploit these vulnerabilities. These are done by a team of White Hat hackers.
Vulnerability Assessment (VA) and Penetration Testing (PT) against Cyber attacks
Cyber-attacks have been increasing in numbers and so are the sophistication of such attacks, and they are happening irrespective of industry. They can happen either internally or externally without your knowledge and can potentially jeopardize the reputation of your organization. In this scenario, VAPT is one of the vital tasks that must be carried out by the IT security team.

Below are some of the key benefits of conducting VAPT within your organization:

  • Identifies gaps in the security posture of your organization
  • Blocks out potential attackers
  • Identifies vulnerabilities with greater risks
  • Reduces risk of credibility or loss or reputation
  • Reduces risk of any business downtime
